Numéro art 17
The Fondation Cartier with Formafantasma in cover story
This season, Numéro art celebrates the major exhibitions marking the return of the cultural season: the monumental Gerhard Richter at the Fondation Louis Vuitton (for which Enki Bilal created two portraits of the German painter for the magazine), the opening of the Fondation Cartier at the Palais-Royal, the Minimal exhibition at the Bourse de Commerce, and the duo Daniel Buren and Miles Greenberg at Reiffers Initiatives, promising an immersive and mind-blowing show. Numéro art also followed Lee Ufan from his Paris studio to his museums in Arles and Naoshima, Japan. The legendary Paolo Roversi photographed this living icon of contemporary art for us.
Numéro art is, as always, about original creations produced in collaboration with the world’s leading artists. The photography duo Luigi & Iango—behind some of Madonna’s most iconic images—created an exclusive series inspired by this new artistic season, where minimalist and maximalist approaches collide. Artist Jakob Kudsk Steensen, meanwhile, unveils in our pages the enigmatic character at the heart of his new installation at the Fondation Louis Vuitton—an entrancing visual journey through the artist’s digital world. One of the most talented photographers of his generation, Felipe Romero Beltrán undertakes long-term documentary projects, whether following young Moroccan migrants in Seville or capturing the Mexico–U.S. border. For Numéro art, he brings together all his series for the first time in a single conversation.
Finally, as always, the magazine offers a guide to major art events like Art Basel Paris and Paris Photo, encounters with key figures in the art world such as gallerist Thaddaeus Ropac, and of course, our curated selection of must-watch artists from the emerging French scene.
