Numéro art 11 Collector

Pol TABURET  in cover story

Numéro art met with Pol Taburet, the young revelation of the French art scene, in his Paris studio. He is the winner of the Reiffers Art Initiatives prize for contemporary creation and cultural diversity. In his powerful and bewitching paintings, the French artist summons the Creole quimbois and occult powers as well as US hip-hop imagery. Numéro art also met British star Anish Kapoor in his studio just before his bloody and visceral works took Venice by storm in a resounding double exhibition. This issue also celebrates the amazing painter Marlene Dumas whose carnal paintings, between light and shadow, masterfully enchant the Palazzo Grassi, also in Venice.

Reading through the pages of Numéro art also invites to discover many relevant personalities and artists in our contemporary world : our great interview with Glenn Ligon, the African-American artist praised throughout the world, who will soon open his first French solo show at the Carré d'art de Nîmes; a conversation between the famous curator Hans Ulrich Obrist and the painter Michael Armitage, admired for his flamboyant paintings; our focus on the Venice’s 59th Biennale with the must-see pavilions of Zineb Sedira, Francis Alÿs and Simone Leigh; a fascinating dialogue between curator Caroline Bourgeois and legendary artist Roni Horn for her current Parisian exhibition at the Bourse de Commerce; an interview with the French artist Tatiana Trouvé, who will unveil her two upcoming solo shows at the Centre Pompidou and Gagosian in June; our focus on the young French scene featuring Ymane Chabi-Gara and Sara Sadik; an exclusive project by Martine Syms, introducing us to her artistic family in Los Angeles; a carte blanche for the artist Andrew Moncrief; and all the exhibitions highlights from this season, from the "Fugues in color" at the Fondation Louis Vuitton to the Rencontres d'Arles...
